How do you stay with something long enough for you to see the actual success? After a few years of feeling like my business wasn’t going anywhere, everything changed for me when I attended our annual global conference. I thought the first day was kinda “blah” and thought I may have made a mistake in coming. But the next few days it hit me. I drank the kool-aide and it was fabulous! There was so much energy, positivity and encouragement – it just didn’t even seem like that much “nice-ness” was even possible. So many kind people wanting to help and learn and grow – I didn’t even think of being critical – let me jump on that train!
It was there that I realized in order to be successful in this business, I’d need to follow a plan. There’s that saying, “A goal without a plan is just a dream.” well I wanted to turn my dream into actual success. This post will take you through 5 steps to be successful in your own business. Don’t give up on your hopes and dreams. Just keep pushing forward or else you’ll never move to where you want to be.
Find your passion. Go forward in your business/goals ONLY if you are actually passionate about it. If you don’t have that passion to energize you – excite you – push you – than it will only last a short while and you won’t stick with it.
Finding your purpose of your “WHY” is key. Why are you doing this? For me, knowing I’m encouraging and helping others achieve their dreams and goals is everything I’d ever want. Ask yourself, how will your purpose impact your life?
The best intentions can get lost if we don’t have a plan to follow. There is something about the actual act of writing out a business plan for your goals that include action steps. Make them specific, give them a time-frame and post them somewhere that you can see them daily. If you write them out, but can’t see them, it’s harder to stay focused – so put them where you’ll be reminded on a daily basis.
Sometimes our plans and our dreams seem so difficult because we can’t seem to fit them in to whatever we have going on with life. You HAVE to be able to fit it in your life so that it becomes not just something we have to do, but a daily routine that we can’t live without.
I did this with my business. I made sure to schedule time each day in order to make phone calls, send emails and connect with my team. If I hadn’t scheduled that time, I’d probably find myself wasting that time on Facebook. Now my routine is to work while the girls have their morning quiet time, make phone calls during my daily walks or even when I’m doing household chores. Persistence is the firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition. Just keep moving forward.
This last step was a game changer for my business. For the first 2 years I was so focused on “MY” ideas of what this business should look like that I didn’t even think to consider what God wanted for this business. I believe God is the creator of the universe and the healer of my soul but yet I was holding this part of my life back from Him.
Our team started discussing how we really needed to be in God’s Word more and how we really were missing that spiritual aspect in our lives. I for one was desperate to build my relationship with God, so I did. It was when I fully handed my business to His will and His plan that I was able to see all of the previous steps in a new light. I was able to feel confident knowing where this business was going because I gave it to Him. Now when I look at my goals and my dreams for my business, it’s reflected on what the Lord has shown me, and THAT is what gives me peace throughout this whole journey.
