As you know from our Home Tour, this house needed some MAJOR updating! That sponge painting and crazy color scheme just wasn’t working for us, especially in sunny Florida! It’s been just over 3 months since we’ve been in our home and I have painted almost the ENTIRE thing on my own!
Yes. Over 2,000sq ft of house. I’m a beast.
I still have to do the 2nd coat in the stairwell and laundry room but I am so “painted out” that I just deal with it for now. ha ha
Now to our bedroom. The walls were a dingy tan and purple color. It was awful. Not only that but you guys, if I could just show you how disgusting the fan and baseboards were, you’d want to vomit. It was disgusting. I’m talking like 2-3 inches of DUST on the edge of the fan blade!!!! BARF!
Anyway, if you missed how the room looked before, here’s a glorious picture:
So here are the photos I took while doing some updates:
Goodbye ugly – hello calm!
|paint color: Streetwise, Behr|
The room stayed like this for a while because hubby was gone and I had all the kiddos with me, but I can’t tell you how excited it made me to have it painted!
Here it is! It’s still not COMPLETE, but that will take some more time. How do you like that tissue box on the nightstand? ha ha ha I guess I didn’t even notice it to take it out of the photo. Let’s just say that I like to keep things more natural right?! I mean, who am I even kidding, my house will never look like a catalog until my kids are grown. Can I get an Amen?!
So anyway, these are the next items on my list that I want to add/change to the room:
– A nice textured, light linen curtain maybe in a grey color
– A multicolored throw to bring in more of the teal and maybe some coral at the end of the bed
– A long bench at the foot of the bed
– Something to go on the wall above the bed, that sign has been moved. I’m thinking either some simple prints in white frames or a rustic shelf with some stuff on top
What do you think? I need some fresh eyes to give me ideas!
