I was given a FitBit® Flex in exchange for an honest review of the product. I was not paid for this review.
I have to say, there is so much to say about the FitBit® Flex! This little gadget is able to track my sleep, food intake, steps & my weight loss progress. It’s really small and comfortable so I really don’t even notice that I’m wearing it most days. This is what the FitBit website says about it: “This slim, stylish device is with you all the time. During the day, it tracks steps, distance, and calories burned. At night, it tracks your sleep quality and wakes you silently in the morning. Just check out the lights to see how you stack up against your personal goal. It’s the motivation you need to get out and be more active.”
Instead of just rambling on and on about how much I love it, I’m going to break it down into sections for you. You are welcome. 😉
This is how I received it. I really wanted to rip it open right away but snapped this picture first. It’s a rubber type material and fit my small wrist perfectly on the smallest setting. It took a little getting used to since I don’t typically wear anything on my wrists but now I feel naked without it. Most of the time you can’t even tell I’m wearing it because I have on long sleeves because of the cold winter months.
I synced it up with my ipod so I can check my progress throughout the day so I didn’t have to worry about tapping the device to try and remember how many dots meant what. I also put the bluetooth device in the usb port on my mac so when I’m near my mac it will automatically sync up as well!
Now on to the various features it has:
Sleep Tracker – this is probably one of my favorite features aside from the actual step tracker. I used to be SO tired and didn’t understand why when I had a full 8 hrs. Once I got this and was able to start tracking my sleep I was seeing how often I would wake up or be restless in the middle of the night! In order to get the adequate amount of sleep needed I’ve found I need to go to bed a bit earlier so I can still get my proper sleep.

One of the other features on the FitBit is the ability to track your meals. I don’t use this one as often as I should. I really should implement it more but I was already using an app that I really liked to track my food so I felt like I was having to double track things. Maybe if I started doing it more often I’d like it better, or if you are someone that doesn’t use a food tracker this would be absolutely PERFECT for you!

And of course the most important feature, the step tracker! It’s pretty amazing to me how I’m able to track my steps each day now. Before I had this, I thought for SURE I was getting way more steps in than I actually am chasing around after my kids. But in reality I don’t do much stepping, it’s more steps here and there with lots of standing/rests in between. So this feature really helps me stay motivated to reach my goal of 10k a day.
I’m not going to lie, when it starts flashing and vibrating to let me know I’ve met my goal I get pretty darn excited about it. lol Then when I open up my email I get a notification like the picture I posted above!
