Last month I received this little package in the mail for my little pumpkin & doodle. (I call them pumpkin doodle and I just want to die when I say it bc it fits them so well.) I was very excited to give these a try as I actually cloth diapered my boys with GroVia! I loved how versatile they were but towards the end I started to lose faith in them bc the elastic didn’t hold very well (but i was using them on two kiddos) and they were starting to leak more as the boys got older and would start to hold their pee & then let it loose at one time.
Well, I will say my faith has been restored! I am SOO impressed with the improvements they have made! The snap-able inserts are crazy soft & they hold a LOAD more than the old ones. They are the same fit as before, which was also such a big deal for me because I hated some of the cloth diapers that made it nearly impossible to put pants on your kid without going up an entire size. My girls are at the age Cohen was when I started using GroVia diapers and the only time they have had a leak is when I went way too long between changes. (dang disposables putting me in bad habits)
When I got the diapers in the mail I immediately started to “prep” them in the wash. For those of you who have never cloth diapered, this is a VERY important part of cloth diapering. If you miss this step, you’ll find yourself frustrated with leaks all over the place. This is a direct quote from their site:
“Prepping removes the natural oils found in our minimally-processed organic cotton and hemp materials and will establish the absorbency needed in your new diapers.” – GroVia Laundry Basics
GroVia suggests washing & tumble drying your diapers 5-6 times before you use them. This does NOT include the Hybrid liners. I made this mistake years ago. I put it in the very hot dryer and ended up ruining the waterproof liner. I now line dry them and they don’t take very long at all to dry.
When I diapered my boys I used their Stay Dry Soakers & I must admit I’m partial to the Organic Soaker Pads now. They are way softer & they seem to be more absorbent than the ones I previously owned. For the extra $1.00 I think it’s totally worth it.
I had used the Tiny Bubbles in the past and always loved it so I was so happy to get a few more to use in the prep for our diapers. It’s a great detergent & safe for your babies/toddlers. I was probably most excited about the Magic Stick because Abby had started to develop a rash & with cloth diapers you have to be very careful what you use as to not ruin the cloth. This stuff cleared up her rash and is safe to use with the diapers. Win-Win! Lastly are the BioWipes. Again, this was a close 2nd because of Abby’s rash I felt awful using the scented wipes I had on hand so I was thankful they sent these. They are made from renewable material, free of harsh synthetic chemicals and parabens.
Overall I think these diapers are perfect for parents who are on the go or just want an easy cloth diaper to use. There is no stuffing involved, you have the option of having a safe disposable insert for traveling/trips & they are trim enough to still use the same size clothing that they wear! (The only time I had an issue was when I tried to put jeans on the girls.) I definitely recommend them to new parents or parents new to cloth diapering as it’s like using a disposable diaper but it’s not! Well, unless you want it to be. 🙂
GroVia didn’t send these to me but I do highly recommend getting a diaper pail/bag and wet bag for your diapers. There’s nothing worse than being out and about & needing to change a cloth diaper with nowhere to put it! Or better yet, being home and not having a place to put the dirty diapers.
If you have any questions about cloth diapering I’d be happy to answer them! Just leave a comment below or sent me an email!
I was provided the products shown above by GroVia in exchange for an honest review of their products. The opinions are my own.
