September 13, 2012 my Cohen started playgroup. (That’s what they call preschool here.) He started with just 2.5 days a week bc I knew he would have trouble with not getting his naps. Come late winter we switched him to 3 full days a week so it would make my life easier. He thrived. Loved every single moment he was at school.
He made friends, his speech has improved drastically & all of his teachers love him.
Today is the last day of school & he is missing it.
Yesterday we went to a field trip with his school to the local zoo. We had so much fun – but it was the HOTTEST day we’ve had (92° with no AC). When we got home I did a little cleaning and while I was dumping our vacuum canister he started coughing, saying his throat hurt but I assumed he inhaled some of the dust. Then, later that afternoon he asked Jesse if he could go to sleep – this is NOT typical of Cohen but I figured it was from the hot weather. We woke him up for dinner & my husband mentioned he was really warm but thought it was from him being under his blanket in bed. He didn’t touch his dinner & asked if he could go back to bed. Hubby decided to just give the boys a bath so he could go to bed if he wanted. They took a nice cool bath & when I took him out he was HOT. I knew he had a fever since they had just been in a cold bath. Sure enough, 102.5°F. Then I checked his throat – holy swollen & red tonsils.
I gave him some meds & put him to bed with only his undies. He woke up this morning with a fever again & a really red throat and swollen tonsils. He’s not as energetic, but I’ve been mandating reading/tv time/ipad time. Rough life.
I still wanted to take his picture for his last day. He’s such a cutie. It makes me a teeny bit sad that he now is officially a little boy.
He officially starts reception in the fall. They start at 4yrs old here – full time. He is going to have a blast! He already talks about “big school” & I’m thankful that his school is on the same grounds as the playgroup. Lucas will start at the playgroup in the fall for 2.5 days a week. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with only 2 babies part of the week!
Do you send your kiddos to preschool?
