Can you believe I’ve been at this for 8 months?! Thankfully half of that time Shaklee has helped me & honestly that’s when I really started to see some losses!
So this month was a bit of a shocker for me as far as my weight. No joke. I lost about 4lbs. Here’s the thing…I lost that amount only in the last 2 weeks! Not. Even. Joking. At the beginning of the month I had been doing the same thing I had been doing. Staying in my calorie range, struggling to drink my water & working out when I could.
The last two weeks these are the changes I’ve made:
1. I drink at LEAST 64oz of water.
2. I have been taking 10 alfalfa supplements daily for my allergies (sometimes more if they are bad, but alfalfa also helps with digestion)
3. I have been taking a probiotic every few days (i thought i was getting a uti and it helped!)
4. I have been eating clean – NO processed foods!
5. I have cut back my caffeine intake a TON.
5. I have limited my white carbs. I’ve only had one meal with white rice, otherwise it’s a sweet potato or brown rice.
6. I do push-ups/sit-ups every day when I think about it. I do as many as I possibly can.
I’m not really sure what out of those that really helped with the actual weight loss, but I truly believe the eating clean & water intake has made the biggest impact.
Drinking water has always been a huge struggle for me. When I was pregnant I never had an issue because I’d fill up a 32oz water bottle and leave it in the kitchen. Every time I walked in, I’d chug as much as I could. I knew I had to have 1 bottle empty by nap time & then the last bottle done by bed. It worked then so why I stopped doing it is beyond me, but since starting back up again, I’ve been able to be very consistent with it.
As far as the supplements, I don’t know if they had an impact on my weight loss but since both are supposed to support the digestive tract I have to believe that it has helped me some. Everyone knows that the gut is the main source of many of our health issues so maybe my gut is finally getting the proper nutrition since it’s getting the proper supplements. 🙂
The eating clean part. The only reason I was truly able to do this was because my husband was gone. I feel like when he’s here I need to make meals I know he’ll eat, where as the kids will eat what I give them. (Not that my husband wouldn’t be okay with me doing this, he’s totally fine with it, it’s just not his first choice.) I’ve made mostly paleo meals but I always add in either brown rice or a sweet potato. I can post some of the recipes if you’re interested, although I didn’t take any photos of them. Oops!
The caffeine thing was mostly due to my sinus infection at the beginning of the month. I was so sick coffee just sounded awful and I kinda kicked my “i have to have it” mentality. When I wake up now I chug my water with my supplements & either have my 180 smoothee or a small bowl of oatmeal. If I want something warm to drink I typically just make a cup of tea, but if it’s been a long night and I’m dragging – you better believe I still bust out the coffee.
The situps/pushups are something that just makes me feel better. I’m not sure it’s actually “doing something” but I feel like if I haven’t worked out that day at least I’ve strengthened those muscles. I just googled some 30 day challenges and wrote them down in my exercise log journal.
So yeah. Kinda a great month wouldn’t you say?! Next month I’m signed up for the Color Run in London & I’m SO nervous because I haven’t been running in almost a month! When my hubby gets back I’ll have to jump back on that train because I don’t want to die in a 5k. lol
