Tonight while having family time, Cohen walks up to me, puts his hand on my tummy and says, “Mommy, why you have a big belly?”
I responded with, “Because Mommy needs to lose some weight.”
I’m not going to lie, the comment – though very innocent – stung a bit.
He doesn’t understand that I’m trying hard to lose the weight. He doesn’t know that I already have body image issues and most of all he doesn’t know that it isn’t appropriate to say to someone.
The innocence of a child – am I right?! I have heard from countless women that they’ve heard this same number from their tot. Those honest little humans.
Thankfully I know that I am working on losing it and that it takes TIME to not have a “big belly” after having 4 kids in 4 years.
Today I even starting working out again (it’s been about a month since I did any exercise – SO bad). I found a blog (calicrossfit.blogspot.com) that posts a daily crossfit workout to complete. It’s truly perfect for me since I have little time to actually get a work out in. I spent a total of 13:20 minutes working out and 6 hours later I am FEELING IT! My legs feel like jello & my back is sore. This is the only time I don’t mind my body being sore – because I know that I’ve pushed it to work harder & be stronger!
So yup. That’s the honest truth for today.
What have your kids ever said that was the honest truth?
