Yesterday was a pretty rough day. Woke up around 8am, grabbed my coffee and went out back on the porch to watch the waving palm trees and rippling water from the inlet out back. Well, I did have to get kids dressed – give them food – and deal with naughty behavior in between that.
Around 10am I had to hop in the car to go pick up the hubs from the airport. Cohen came with me on this trip as he was WAY too excited to just wait at his Nana & PopPop’s house for his Daddy. An hour later we were greeting Jesse with lots of hugs & kisses! On our way back we had to make a stop at Chick-Fil-A – because you can NEVER get enough of Chick-Fil-A.
When we got back to the house, we said some ‘hello’s’ and then the hubs and I headed off to the beach – BY OURSELVES! We spent about an hour just laying on our towels, reading & chatting – watching the waves crash on the shore. After our hour of ‘alone’ time, the rest of the family showed up. Little Lucas hadn’t seen his Daddy yet, as he was sleeping when we got back from the airport, you can image his excitement when he realized who was with me. I’ve never heard that boy squeal like he did. It melted my little heart.
All the boys & I went and romped around in the waves for quite a while. Since I’m a shorty and I live amongst tall men, they took over the kids and I just kept afloat. We played in the ocean for almost an hour. We were ALL worn out – but that didn’t stop us from coming back to the house and jumping right into the pool for some more water fun!
After about another hour in the pool we all got out and had some yummy teriyaki pineapple burgers from the grill & a fresh salad. After dinner we had a lovely family walk and then went out for some home made gelato along the shore.
I mean, if you ask me, life has been PRETTY rough lately. So I’m sure all of you can understand my absence.
