Here’s the scoop:
Yesterday I had terrible bloating and bad stomach pains. I didn’t think too much about it, just assumed it would get better after some prevacid or rolaids. The pains didn’t get better and they continued to get worse. They were so bad I literally only slept from 5:30am-6:45am this morning. I tossed, turned, moaned, googled my symptoms and even sought advice from my lovely faceboook crowd.
I ended up calling the nurse hotline at 5am. She told me with my symptoms I needed to go to the ER. Awesome. Unfortunately, when you live across an ocean from all of your family, hopping in a car with your husband to head to the ER isn’t very easy with 2 little ones. I knew there was no way I would be able to drive the hour to get there, so I thought I’d try to just sleep until our clinic appointment line opened up. I ended up calling right away and they directed me to the ER because of the previous advice from the nurse hotline.
Jesse came home from work about 830am. We got loaded up in the car and headed out at about 9am. Once we were there I was seen a little after 10am. I was asked loads of questions and my vitals taken. Then I was given a regular exam, pelvic exam, 3 viles of blood were drawn and an IV of meds. Fast forward a few hours and all the tests came back ‘normal.’ The meds helped my pain but I didn’t like the non-diagnosis. I was told if it worsens or I end up with fever/vomiting then I need to return.
We got home around 2pm and thank the Lord so many people were lifting prayers because my boys both went back to sleep after their hour nap in the car! I was able to sleep for 2 glorious hours! I woke up and the pain was still at about a 3. A few hours went by and the pain came back. Not cool. Oh and have I mentioned that I look like I’m 4 months pregnant because of the bloating?! It’s bad. Seriously.
After a little skype session with my fabulous MIL, I think I may have IBS. I know, just give us a MD now. But, she said what I describe sounds exactly like it. SO – I called the local pharmacy to see what they suggest. My amazing husband, went back out to the store after working till 7pm (he went back to work after our ER fun) to pick up some peppermint oil stuff. So far it seems to be working well but I need to get this figured out. I do NOT want to keep going through this. I’m thinking the cause may be the powder formula of the coffee creamer I use. I typically use the liquid but switched to the powder a few days ago – who knows.
What I do know is that it’s almost 11pm and I’m about to die. I need to go to sleep and pray that the pain is gone. Please lift up a few prayers for me. I’d really enjoy a good nights rest after the last 2 days. Thanks everyone!!!
